Henk Visch – DAS KINO FOR LUBLIN AND ITS GUESTS

Body, movement, limits of cognition and surroundings – they all drive Henk Visch to create sculptures, art objects, installations and drawings which dialogize with form and anatomy; which are the gesture made in a subtle and mysterious way.

Visch’s project harmonizes with the form of the Lublin Castle. A monumental and massive female statue is radiating peace. The sitting giant is resting her hands on one knee which makes her more human. She is engaging passers-by in an interaction with her. She is the Cinema, a dark space in which various images can be seen. A street lamp next to the statue is also part of the work. It becomes a link between a bustling street and an imaginary fantasy world which normally has no stage of its own. The artist builds unique contexts, hence the square becomes a theater towering above the city of Lublin and keeping guard over its history. This is where Das Kino is situated. This is how the power of imagination works.
