This rescaled, large-size replica of an unexploded shell merges with the area surrounding old tenement houses whose facades still bear traces of war. The iron monument embedded in the urban tissue is a foreign body that brutally brings the unknown to the everyday. ‘Lost’ between tenement houses, the shell induces nightmare memories and fuels fears reminding us of fragility of everything that is dear to us. Stalker II is a continuation of Kuśmirowski’s performance Stalkammer from 2014, presented at the opening of the 6th edition of the Open City festival. This year, the artist’s intention is to make the emotional ‘bomb’ evident, to create a tangible representation of our fears.
